Your information

Privacy policy

We keep the information we hold about you to a minimum, look after it carefully, and never sell it.

Who we are

DC10 Hairdressing (“we”, “us”), 15 High Street, Market Deeping, Peterborough, PE6 8ED, is the data controller for the personal information described here. If you have any questions, call us on 01778 218731 or email contact@dc10hairdressing.com.

What we collect and why

When you book or visit

  • Your name, mobile number and, if you give it, your email address, so we can book your appointments and contact you about them.
  • Your appointment history, the services and products you’ve had, and notes your stylist makes (for example colour formulas), so we can do things the way you like them.
  • Your preferences, such as your usual stylist and whether you’d like reminder texts or occasional offers.

We use this information to provide the services you ask for (contract) and, for keeping a record of your treatments, because we have a legitimate interest in looking after you properly.

Health information

If you tell us about allergies or skin sensitivities, or have a skin (patch) test before a colour service, we record it so we can keep you safe. This is special category data, so we only record it with your agreement, store it encrypted, and only staff who need it can see it.

Card details

When you book online we may ask you to save a card. Card details are collected and stored by our payment provider, Stripe; we never see or store your full card number. We keep a reference to the card (for example the last four digits and expiry date) so that, in line with our booking policy, we can charge a fee for a missed appointment or late cancellation. Fees are never taken automatically. Nothing is taken when you book.

Text messages and emails

We text you to confirm your appointments and to remind you about them, with a private link to change or cancel. We only send offers if you’ve agreed to receive them, and you can stop them at any time by telling us, using the opt-out link in the text, or in your account. (Texts come from “DC10Hair”, which can’t receive replies.)

This website

We don’t use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and we don’t use social media pixels. Our web server keeps short-lived security logs (such as IP addresses) to protect the site and our booking system from abuse. See our cookie policy for the few cookies we do use.

The map on our contact page is only loaded from Google if you choose to show it. If you do, Google receives your IP address and may set its own cookies.

Who we share it with

We only share your information with companies that help us run the salon, under contracts that require them to protect it:

  • Stripe, to store saved cards and take payments;
  • Cloudflare (Turnstile), to check that online booking and sign-in forms are used by people, not bots;
  • our text message and email providers, to deliver appointment messages;
  • our website and database hosting provider.

We never sell your information or share it for marketing. We may disclose it if the law requires us to.

How long we keep it

We keep your client record while you visit us, and for up to six years after your last visit to meet our accounting and insurance obligations. Health notes are deleted when they’re no longer needed. You can ask us to delete your record sooner (see below).

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:

  • give you a copy of the information we hold about you;
  • correct anything that’s wrong;
  • delete your information, or stop or limit how we use it;
  • give your information to you in a portable format;
  • stop sending you offers, or withdraw your agreement to us holding health information.

Just ask in the salon, call or email us. We’ll respond within one month. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we use your information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
